Selfie con El Che

This commissioned canvas presents Che Guevara as a black-and-white icon, paradoxically frozen yet oddly present in a modern crowd. His image becomes a mirror for our fascination with symbols — a playful critique of how people elevate figures that reassure them, even when the reality is far more complex.

In the scene, everyone vies to capture a selfie with him, transforming devotion into spectacle. Catholic echoes and popular rituals hover faintly in the background, emphasizing the theatricality of the act.

This painting becomes a reflection on our relationship with icons: how we project meaning onto them, celebrate them, and find comfort in their fixed image, even as it contrasts with the messy reality of history.
