Changatto
In 2022 I was commissioned to create a painting that would capture the essence of a client’s many cats. Knowing me personally, the client gave me complete freedom — a rare gift of trust.
I spent time observing them, learning their personalities: which were shy, which mischievous, which carried a quiet intimacy in their gaze. Slowly, a vision began to emerge.
The result is Changatto — an ironic fusion of changa and gatto — where each brushstroke reflects not just the physical presence of these cats, but their inner life, their quirks, their subtle hierarchies. At the center, I marked the importance of the client’s favorite cat, giving it a quiet prominence amidst the many personalities that surround it.
This work was born from careful observation, empathy, and a touch of playful irony. It is a tribute to the intimate worlds that unfold behind feline eyes — worlds of mischief, elegance, and quiet authority.
